Wondering

I was wondering if anyone knew of an insect anthro? Just curious. I know a fox and another cat but that's it - until the Central PA Fur Meet, that is. When I was Anthrocon this year, I saw mostly mammalian species and one frog. There are so many species of animals, it's odd that there aren't more diversity amongst furries. I think an ocotpus or arachnid character would be cool. |
Hmm

I knew of Uncle Kage from my trip to Anthrocon this year but I wasn't aware that he was a roach. I think that antennae would be cool but I have to with a tail. I don't know much about termites other than the African ones build huge mounds out in the wild. Animal Planet junkie? Me? Naaaahhhh. |

I figure the reason the vast majority of furries choose to be mammals or birds is because they are much easier to athropomorphize or personify than other species. Amphibians and reptiles are seldom seen, and invertebrates (like insects) even less so. Kage's a perfect example in the furry community, and on television there are also Spongebob and Earthworm Jim, but that is probably about it. To the best of my knowledge there is no one in the fandom whose persona is that of any species outside of the animal kingdom, although I saw a comic strip about an amoeba once. |
What about dragons? There

What about dragons? There are LOTS of them in the fandom, and I don't tihnk they are ether mammals or avians. |

They be reptiles. IMO. Don't listen to those fancy-pants scientists who will tell you they're like birds. Maybe I'm just biased because I'm a fox, but I can't think of as many dragons as I can think of mammals in the fandom. They are definitely there though. |
