Pgh Monthly Fur Meet! 8/9/07 7PM @ Games N-At

2007-08-09 19:00 2007-08-09 23:59 Etc/GMT-5 Hello Pittsburgh Area Furs! In case you hadn't heard, we've been having monthly Fur Meets on the second Thursday evening from 7-9PM at the Panera Bread on the Blvd of the Allies in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. We're breaking away from that mold in August and taking the meet to Pittsburgh's largest video arcade and game center. Games N-At, http://www.gamesnat.com/, is on the South Side and offers game play ALL NIGHT for $8! (Unlimited play does not apply on duck pins and ticket games.) They also have a small, but well stocked and reasonably priced snack bar on site. But the best news is that their management has approved fursuits, as well as ears & tails, to be worn at their establishment. So it should turn out to be a nice change of pace for us. Perhaps one we'll try to include once a quarter. If you're interested in joining us August 9th at Games N-At I need you to please RSVP with me by August 6th so I can call them up with a head count and they'll reserve a few tables for us! If you're planning on fursuiting, let me know that also. An RSVP is not necessary for you to attend...it's only necessary to reserve enough space for us. September we move back to the Panera Bread in Oakland again and we'll skip the October meet which comes right on the heels of the Western PA Furry Weekend! (www.wpafw.org) Thanks for your time, Swift Fox |

Monthly Fur Meet
Monthly Fur Meet Report!
Well, regardless of what Mother Nature intended, the monthly Pittsburgh fur meet went off without a hitch. Granted, I got tied up playing fire dawg for almost six hours after taking off early from work when the NWS issued a Tornado Warning for my region of the city. Silaria went down in my stead and made sure things were running smoothly.
The staff was polite, friendly and seemed very happy to accommodate us and our little “quirkiness.”
When I finally arrived a little before 9PM, Games N-at wasn’t packed at all. There were plenty of open video games to play and no wait for the billiards or air hockey tables. There were about 16 furs there. Xavier, Firefox, Ridger, Mehndi, Simba, Boomer, Amaruq, MattRat, Kim, Darkwolfie and his wife, Flanowa, Spike, Kunai, Silaria and I. Mehndi was the only one in fursuit, but there were a few folks sporting ears and tails.
For the short time I was there, I managed to play three games of pool with Xavier, two games of air hockey with Sil, nab the high score on Space Invaders, play 5 games of pinball and a lite-gun game Tomb-something. I think I got my $8 worth for just being there for a little over an hour. Everyone I talked to was having a blast and couldn’t say enough about how they were enjoying themselves.

Several asked if this would become a regular thing for the meets. Truth be told, I coordinate these things for the local furry community and those who show up. Last night was really cool, but there’s something also to be said for the quiet atmosphere of Panera Bread for just talking, sketching and playing simple card or board games. I was going to shoot to schedule a monthly fur meet at Games N-at once a quarter, so it doesn’t get “stale.” If we continue to get a dozen or more people out for these meets, I can feel comfortable reserving the “VIP Room” at Panera month after month too. Then maybe next year, when the weather warms up, we can plan a Mini Golf outing either at Wildwood Highlands or the small course on Babcock Blvd across from the DQ.
Okay, my little meet report has wandered a bit. I guess what I’m getting at is I coordinate these things for YOU, the furs that come out and enjoy the fruits of my labor. What do you want to do? What will keep you coming out month after month for an enjoyable night out with friends?
*Hugs*
Thanks again to everyone who came out and joined us. Sorry the weather kept a few of you away.
*hugs*
