I can has tail quotes?!

Sun, 2010-03-14 18:39
So let me first apologize for my lack of artistic ability. I have none. :3  However with some help via IRC, I was able to make a decent pic of the tails I'd like to get done. Looking for quotes for now, gotta move into new place before I can actually spend the monies ... woohoo!! Trying to get at least my gryphon tail done for AC!! MY FIRST CON!!

i945.photobucket.com/albums/ad299/phoenixhalfbreed/Furry%20Stuff/tails.jpg

Details - My gryphon is going to be long, looking for at least 3-4 feet in length (it's just a guess really) and it will NEED to curl upwards ... else I'll truly be ... as someone once said ... a featherdusterbutt >__<  One person I talked to told me that it would have to have a soft foam core to allow the bend and for the feathers to be placed properly so they don't go molting off. Tiger color fur all the way until the end which is where the feathers are.

My wolf tail is simple ... jet black fur for 3/4 of it, the rest is dark red ... if not almost blood colored. I'm guessing about 1 and a half or 2 feet in length, medium thickness ... it's not a bushy tail.

BRIGHT NOTE!! Reaux drew my gryphon tail ... at least 100x better than what I could do.

i20.photobucket.com/albums/b231/sockrockinbeats/tail.jpg

Would like them both to be able to be slipped into a belt if at all possible.

Just send me a message with prices or any questions I have more than likely failed to answer.

THANKIES!!!

[Event] York PA - Bowling/Movie Meet! - Saturday, March 27th

Sun, 2010-03-14 01:24
Yep, we're back!

Sorry for the long hiatus, but Kyr and I hit a rough patch back in September with a myriad of issues (cars wrecked, family emergencies, etc), and things just kept spiraling downwards. Now that things are more or less stabilized for the moment, we're making a comeback, and we're kicking it off with a double-header meet!

To kick off, we'll be doing a round or two of bowling, then we'll be wandering over to West Manchester Mall to see "How To Train Your Dragon". After that, we'll roll over to the Lyndon diner for munchies and drinks!

What: Bowling/Movie meet for "How To Train Your Dragon"
When: Saturday, March 27th, beginning at 1 PM
Where: Colony Park Lanes - 1900 Pennsylvania Ave, York PA 17404, sojourning over to West Manchester Mall for the movie. All locations are directly off Route 30 in York, and are very easy to get to.

NOTES:
As always, everyone is welcome, and as always ears/tails/collars are a-ok.

I'm aiming for us to get to the movie by about 4 PM to avoid the Saturday night crowds, so once movie times are published I'll post a poll on what movie time works best for everyone. Since this is opening weekend for How To Train Your Dragon, I'd highly recommend using Fandango to purchase your tickets in advance!

Please RSVP for this meet so we can get an accurate headcount to give the restaurant afterwards!

To RSVP or if you have questions, you can IM me:

Yahoo: devilponywolfe
AIM: crazykitsune

So come on out and enjoy a day of fun with the local furs! Hope to see you there!

The Official Phillyfurs Chinatown Furmeet! (Details Below)

Sat, 2010-03-13 19:13
I'm gonna go with the 11th on sunday, it seems like a really good day for everyone, and Sunday is a bit more of a relaxed day downtown.

So, mark it off, April the 11th, at 1:00!

---

The meeting place is gonna be the Chinatown Gate, you literally CANNOT miss it. It's at 10th and Arch, (Remember, The Arch at Arch )

Its a block down from the 9th or 11th street el stop, Five blocks away from the broad street line(Or Two via the Chinatown Spur), three blocks dwon from Trolleys going to City Hall, and the Regional Rail lines stop under the gallery a block down from the gate.

Everyone can meet at the gate by 1:00, and we'll stay as long as we can for anyone having trouble/straggling -.-

Than we can walk around, check out the shops, and just...have a good time XD

From there, we can either buy food in Chinatown, or pop in the Reading Terminal, or bring your own ^^

Finally, we'll go to Franklin Square, a beautiful park right down the street from the edge of Chinatown, to eat Lunch and relax. I'll bring a ball, and someone can bring a frisbee :3 Heck, we can even picnic if we wanna ^^

I'm hoping to get to the square around 2:30, but we can chill at the park for as long as we like ^^

If it's raining(Which I really hope it's not >.>), we can just go chill in the gallery

---

I'll answer all questions, but here are a few Pre-Determined Answers, and a few already asked

1. And about fursuiting: You can if you wanna, but we'll be outside in public all day. I know most of you guys don't care, but it might get kinda hot...

2. RSVPing: You can RSVP by PM'ing the Phillyfurs account, with your name and age(17+ Please). It's a public meet, so if you don't want to come, but decide you'd like to come last minute, it's okay! Attempt texting me at least, so i can expect to hold the group back a few more minutes or not. If you don't RSVP, and you're left behind...well..that's gonna suck...

If you have anymore questions, just post them. I'll make any updates if anything is changed, or needs to be changed. Like before, I ask you again, if you have any ideas or opinons, PLEASE post them!

---

Pass this around! Share links, MSN, what-have-you! Get this out, and spread this around!

FAQ

Aren't we getting too big for The Charcoal Pit
Indeed we are which is why we're moving back to the International Grill Buffet, which has strangely enough changed it's name to East King Buffet in it's absence. So it's almost like going to a whole new restaurant!

102?!
Christ all-mighty. Gettin' bigger by the month. I actually predict a decrease this month. But only time will tell.

Do you need any help running this?
I plan on enlisting some voluntters in the near future. If you're interested then be sure to keep an ear out!

FWA is happening at the same time!
Sorry 'bout that. But unfortunately my work schedule demands that it has to be on this Saturday. If you can't make it this month no worries! There is always next month. :3

What if it snows again?
I'm going to start tiger-mauling people until it stops! But in all seriousness I have to play snowstorms and weather in general by ear. Just make sure to keep checking back to the surple.com RSVP site or in this thread to stay abreast on the current Furbowl situation.

Can I just hang out?
Sure you can come to just hang out! Some of our folks come just to socialize! Be prepared for me to hound on you a bit to try to convince you to bowl. :3

Do I need to spend any money?
Nobody is going to fault you for pinching your pennies however, buying a soda, grilled cheese sandwhich at the resteraunt, or some food from the bowling alley, goes a long way in ensuring they enjoy hosting our group.

How much should I bring for everything?
Expect to spend about $30 for both events.

Is there a bar?
There is a bar at the bowling alley where alcohol can be purchased. Please drink responsibly. It's one thing to be slightly buzzed. It's another to be trashed. Also, don't forget to pay your bar tab! :3

Can I wear my fursuit?
Fursuits at the bowling lanes are all groovy and cool. However do not suit to the resteraunt. For practicalities sake as well as good will with the restaurant. Tails/ears however are encouraged. Just remember that it's on a Saturday and will more than likely be a bit crowded with mundane folk.

Will there be an afterparty?
If there is going to be an afterparty I'm not the one organizing it. You have to come to find out if there is one or not. :3

Whats this I hear about a Group Picture?
During the middle of the bowling portion of the event I'll gather everyone together so we can get a nifty group shot!

I can't make it to this month, when is next months?
You can see the 2010 Furbowl schedule here: http://www.thefurststate.com/viewtopic.php?t=1374

RSVP:

PLEASE you must RSVP!
You can RSVP by signing up at the official furbowl RSVP site:
http://furbowl.surple.com/

Showing up at random or not telling me what you'll be attending or signing up for things and not attending gives me gray hairs. I don't need my stripes fading just yet!

So with that said...

Thanks to SheppyWuff for the group photo !

Can't wait to see you all there again for another fun furry night!

PA Furry ladies - Heads up!

Wed, 2010-03-10 19:34
To any women in PA who plan to be attending Anthrocon this year, or have a Pounced.org ad like myself, I wanted to issue a general heads-up about a possibly skeevy situation.

I was contacted last night by a guy named "Lan" who claimed to be from a studio called "Wild Side" studios, claims to have invented "stretchy fursuit fur", and propositioned me for modeling work to represent his studio at Anthrocon this year. The convo I had with him immediately gave me a bad vibe, but I kept talking to him for awhile to see if I could draw out any additional information. Too many red flags sprung up for me.

* He claimed that his model had "double-booked", was unavailable for the con, and lived in Chicago; then the turned around about 10 minutes later and claimed she moved to Denver and he couldn't afford to fly her out. Aside from the reasons not matching up, why proposition random women when you could ask a friend who might be going, or someone else that is more convenient and less work to obtain?

*Claims to have invented a material that already exists and is well-known to fursuiters and fursuit makers, and is widely available.

*Is promising a free Anthrocon admission.

*His studio name is not listed on any dealer list for this year's Anthrocon. He also conveniently does not have a website, cannot tell you the exact city the studio is based out of, or any other details save that the studio is in Michigan.

*Is looking for "skinny" girls with "cute voices". I am chubby and say so in my ad. This alone tells me he's not reading ads.

*Asked if I was involved in the furry fandom (Um, Pounced? Duh?)

I want to hold on to the faint hope that this guy is legit and possibly just not a good businessman, or he's trying to attract female attention and just going about it in entirely the wrong way. But I also could not live with myself if I didn't say something about a situation that really and truly gave me the creeps, and someone was hurt or taken advantage of because I did not say anything.

If anyone knows this person, by all means prove me wrong! But if it sounds as skeezy to you as it does to me, take this as your "heads up", and use common sense when dealing with something that seems to come out of nowhere.

SpikesFest 2010 Reminder

Thu, 2010-02-11 23:53
Hi all fellow furs.
Just reminding all who would like to attend this event.
Have some additional info.
There is no food or drinks.  Of course I could be wrong.
Here is additional info via email I got.

Former Penn State linebacker Josh Hull and 2009 Pittsburgh Pirates' supplemental first round draft selection Victor Black will headline the guest list at SpikesFest on Sunday, February 14. The free, family event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Penn State Multi-Sport Facility. In addition to Hull and Black, Pittsburgh Pirates' President Frank Coonelly has also been confirmed as a guest. All three will meet and greet fans, sign autographs and take part in live question and answer sessions at various times during the event.

Hopefully that cleared some things up.

Hope to be there.  ^.^
